Your ISP router UI sucks - make your own

Like every ISP router, the Zyxel T-56 that came with my Odido fibre has a rubbish web UI.

Want to use a password manager to fill in your login details? Nope.

Enjoy buttons that inexplicably look like this?

An OK button from the stock Zyxel web UI, with its label spilling out of the button's background.A Login button from the stock Zyxel web UI, with its label spilling out of the button's background.

Can’t find the setting you need? Have fun hunting through every screen.

I built Fyxel to control my router. Here’s what it looks like:

Fyxel's Overview page.

Having a native app also means you can do useful stuff like putting the login details in Keychain. Or building a cli tool so that your agent can also configure your router. Or having a shortcut key to search every single piece of functionality from one bar.

Fyxel's Devices page, listing LAN hosts with live per-device rates.

Download the DMG from Fyxel’s GitHub releases.

Build your own

  • Log into your router’s web UI
  • Copy the session cookie and paste it into Claude
  • Ask it to discover the API and build a native UI
  • Voila!
